Shamrock Tuning Academy

Professional Heavy-Duty ECU Training for North American Tuners
Hands-on, real-world calibration training for commercial trucks, construction equipment, and agricultural machinery. Designed for beginner and intermediate tuners who want a deeper, structured understanding of how modern diesel ECMs truly work.
Shamrock Academy

The Premier Heavy-Duty ECU Training Experience in North America

The heavy-diesel tuning industry has grown rapidly, but structured, practical education has not kept up. Shamrock Tuning Academy fills that gap by offering in-person, high-value training that focuses on the logic behind calibration, not just button-clicking.
  • Decode OEM strategies with confidence
  • Build your own map definitions
  • Apply one repeatable workflow to any ECM
  • Turn calibration skills into real shop revenue
Delivered in Calgary, Alberta and open to attendees across Canada and the United States, the Academy is built for technicians, shop owners and tuners who want to learn how to identify maps, understand strategies and work confidently inside real calibration files.

Training Format

Three-Day · In-Person · Hands-On Training
Students learn how to analyze, reverse-engineer, and modify commercial vehicle calibrations by understanding OEM strategy, not relying on pre-made files, templates or guesswork.
  • Three full days of guided, hands-on instruction
  • Real calibration files and OEM comparison exercises
  • On-road and off-road calibration strategies covered together
  • Map identification, pattern recognition, and reverse-engineering workflows
  • Torque, fuel, air control, protection strategies, and DTC logic
  • Professional WinOLS overlay creation and validation
  • Cross-platform methodology for Cummins, Detroit, and Volvo
  • Small class size with direct instructor support and real-world problem solving

What You Will Learn

Over three intensive days, you’ll learn how professional calibrators break down OEM strategies, identify meaningful changes, and work confidently inside unfamiliar files across multiple commercial vehicle platforms.

OEM Calibration Strategy

  • How OEMs structure torque, fuel, air control, limiters, and protections
  • How maps, logic, and diagnostics interact inside a calibration
  • How to read an ECM strategy as a complete system instead of isolated tables

Map Identification & Pattern Recognition

  • How to visually identify meaningful calibration tables
  • Recognizing torque, fuel, airflow, limiter, and protection structures
  • Locating related maps inside unfamiliar binaries
  • Validating map identity before making changes

Calibration Comparison & Reverse Engineering

  • Compare low- and high-output OEM calibrations
  • Separate meaningful strategy changes from background differences
  • Understand how OEM changes affect power and torque
  • Use known calibrations to help interpret unfamiliar files

Definitions & Overlay Workflow

  • Build reusable map definitions from known calibration data
  • Verify axes, scaling, units, and map structure
  • Export only the calibration changes that actually matter
  • Build and validate professional WinOLS overlays

DTC & Fault Strategy

  • Locate DTC tables even when addresses and layouts change
  • Understand fault reporting versus fault reaction
  • Identify diagnostic regions and related calibration logic
  • Recognize recurring fault-strategy patterns across different files

Cross-Platform Calibration Workflow

  • Apply a structured process to unfamiliar commercial vehicle calibrations
  • Adapt your methodology across Cummins, Detroit, Volvo, and other platforms
  • Understand where OEM strategies differ and where the same principles carry over
  • Build a repeatable workflow for safer, more intentional calibration work
The goal isn’t to memorize one platform. It’s to build a calibration methodology you can carry across Cummins, Detroit, Volvo, and other on-road and off-road applications.

One Masterclass.
On-Road + Off-Road.

The 3-Day Advanced Commercial Vehicle Calibration Masterclass brings both applications together in one complete training program, built around the calibration strategies and problem-solving methods that transfer across platforms.

On-Road Commercial Vehicles

Apply the methodology to engines and controllers found in:
  • Highway tractors
  • Vocational trucks
  • Commercial freight fleets
  • Other heavy-duty on-road applications
Platforms include Cummins, Volvo/Mack, Detroit, Paccar, and other commercial on-road controllers.

Off-Road Heavy Equipment

Carry the same calibration thinking into:
  • Agricultural machinery
  • Construction & industrial equipment
  • Forestry & commercial equipment
  • Other heavy-duty off-road applications
Platforms include Caterpillar, John Deere, CASE/New Holland, Komatsu, and other off-road controllers.
Deep Tuning Knowledge

One Course. One Method. More Capability.

Instead of learning isolated tricks for individual platforms, you’ll build a repeatable calibration methodology that can be adapted across both on-road and off-road applications.
Three days. One complete program.

WinOLS 5 Logo

The WinOLS Platform

WinOLS is used as the analysis tool, not the subject of the course
  • Students must arrive with a fully licensed version (no demo versions)
  • A preconfigured WinOLS profile is provided for the course
  • You will learn to analyze ECM logic inside WinOLS, not master the software itself.
  • Advanced WinOLS training is available separately through our partner Viezu

WinOLS License Requirement

All attendees must submit their WinOLS license number prior to the course to confirm legitimacy and ensure compatibility with course materials.
Optional remote setup support (via AnyDesk or TeamViewer) is available to ensure your installation is ready before arrival.

F.A.Q.

Who is this training designed for?
  • Beginner tuners
  • Intermediate tuners looking to accelerate their skills
  • Shop owners wanting to bring tuning in-house
  • Technicians transitioning into calibration roles
  • Anyone working with heavy-diesel engines (on-road or off-road)
What do I need to bring?
  • A Windows laptop capable of running WinOLS
  • A full, paid WinOLS license (demo versions are not supported)
  • Your WinOLS license number (required before attending)
  • Power adapter + mouse
Is prior tuning experience required?
No.
The training is structured to support beginners but delivers enough depth for intermediate tuners to gain tremendous value.
Do I need to know WinOLS?
No.
WinOLS is used as a viewing and analysis tool, and students are given a standardized configuration file to follow along with. The course is not a replacement for full WinOLS training.
Will you help set up WinOLS?
Yes.
Registered attendees may schedule a one-on-one remote pre-setup session.

I really appreciate that fact that you're willing to teach, there are not many tuners like you that take the time to teach. I think you built an awesome network for us to build off as well, I didnt know many guys coming in but i got some amazing contacts. that one of the greatest things about a course like this.
